About Young Huh Interior Design and the designer.
Young Huh is principal and founder of Young Huh Interiors, a full-service design firm specializing in residential and commercial interiors. With impeccable attention to detail, Young’s projects are conceived and tailored to fit each client’s personality and needs.
Her philosophy is that each client has a unique point-of-view and her role is to transform that vision into reality while elevating it to its greatest potential. Well-versed in art and design history, yet with an ever vigilant eye on the popular pulse, Young incorporates ideas and styles from an expansive range of sources to create timeless design known for its classic proportions and eclectic, chic styling. Fluent in a wide range of styles from historic to contemporary, her interiors reflect her love of art and artisans, materials and textures.
A native of Detroit, Young did not begin her career path with an eye toward interior design and was an English major at Smith College. Following graduation, she attended Fordham Law School and obtained a law degree. Later, while pursuing further education and an internship in interior design, Young quickly concluded that design was her true calling.
Armed with practical experience and a lifelong love of art, Young founded her eponymous firm in 2007 and never looked back. She believes her legal background has informed and enhanced her abilities as a designer and business woman. Adds Young, “Equally important to having great creative instincts, my legal training has reinforced a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and an ability to see every transaction from different angles.”
Young Huh Interiors is based in New York City and works on projects across the country and abroad. The firm continues to grow, expanding its original repertoire of residential interiors to include larger commercial projects. “We constantly strive to bring a global point of view to our work. We love the challenge of incorporating new technologies and products into our designs and discovering those craftsmen who bring their unique skills to each project.”
The firm has been published in Elle Decor, Domino, House Beautiful and Westchester Cottages & Gardens. In 2011, Young was honored with the Innovation in Design Award for Interior Design by Connecticut Cottages & Gardens. Young Huh Interiors has been selected to participate in the Ronald MacDonald House of Long Island Project Design in the fall of 2013. She founded the blog “Les Design Nerdes” with Audrey Margarite. The duo discuss their favorite design moments and current trends with keen insight and a sense of humor. Young currently lives in Westchester, NY with her husband and three children.
